Postcard from the Vignerons Vol. 15

Postcard from the Vignerons Vol. 15

Dear Wine Lover,

High scores can dazzle, but they’re often engineered. Yeast, sugar, acids, enzymes, tannins, nutrients – Additives used to shape aroma, texture, and balance. Quick, precise, sometimes effective – especially when critics don’t ask how it was achieved. But real wine goes deeper.

Hans’ philosophy is simple: let the wine speak for itself. He trusts the casual taster, the sommelier, the wine lover honing their palate. He labours season-long, every day, in the vineyard. Every grape is nurtured for exceptional concentration and aromatic intensity. No shortcuts. No additives. Just relentless care and craft.

Rewards sometimes come in unexpected forms: a note from a sommelier, a deeply impressed guest, or a distributor raising an eyebrow at a wine that quietly proves itself. Knowing your work matters far beyond a score – that’s what drives us, in the vineyard and at the cellar door.

True quality isn’t measured by awards. It’s in the care, the craft, and the passion poured into every bottle.

Warmly,

Therese

P.S. The photo shows Hans bunch-thinning our Cabernet Franc.
A glass of Spirit of Marlborough seems entirely appropriate, don’t you think? 😉
