March Madness at Dunleavy

The fruit growing season is fast approaching, and it’s been lovely to have a reminder of what a summer day feels like. It’s amazing how quickly we can forget the smell and feel of a warm day when we’re in the depths of winter, but we’ve been lucky enough to experience a few days like that recently.

In the vineyard, we’ve finished pruning the vines. The grass has started to grow so we’ve invited our farming neighbour to lend us some sheep to delay having to mow for a few more weeks. The willow windbreak has come into leaf and looks quite beautiful. We’re still working our way through pollarding them – cutting them back to a one-metre stump as we do every spring. It’s amazing how much they grow over the course of a summer.

On the wine front we have a few new customers including Cadbury Garden Centre and the Princes Motto pub in Barrow Gurney (which is due to open on Friday 3rd April).

Just a reminder that we will be running vineyard tours on the first Sunday of each month from May to September across summer 2026.

Join us at our Wrington vineyard to hear the story behind the vineyard and taste our wines! There will be two tours each day, starting at 11am and 2pm.

Head to our webshop to find out more!

We’ll be planting a few hundred vines at our new Kelston site this spring and will be in touch with ‘adopt a vine’ supporters in the next month or so to find out the chosen name for their vine!

Plans are also afoot for a series of free open days for Crowdfunder supporters to visit the new site later this summer so watch this space.
