Le Grand Depart of this year’s Tour de France is being celebrated in style in Yorkshire.
Our Destination of the Month, Saltaire Brewery, has teamed up with Dark Star brewery to create Le IPA. To kick matters off, the pair are launching the brew at Le Grand Depart Beer Club on 4 July at Saltaire Brewery, alongside a number of other Yorkshire beers.
French-grown Triskel and Brewers Gold hops are joined by a touch of coriander to add a spicy depth. And to make the most of the affinity between cycling and beer, there’s a free pint to anyone arriving with bike and clad in lycra.

Masham big weekender
Meanwhile, over in Masham, Black Sheep Brewery is teaming up with Theakstons for the first time ever to host Le Grand Party Masham, from 4 to 6 July.
Matters kick off from 4pm on Friday with Le Grand Bar Uno serving up local beers.
With the race passing through Masham on the Saturday, you’ll want to plan your day to the tee. Car parks open in and around Masham (charge applies) from 5am, with road closures likely to start at 8am.
There’ll be big screens, numerous bars, the Saturday market and fireworks to finish the day. And if you want to camp, Black Sheep have some pitches left, so don’t delay.
