Tasty, very very tasty...
Brighton does it again, mixing international flair with local fare as its August Food & Drink Festival hits the town.
Perennial favourite The Sussex & The World Market with its 100-odd stalls pitches camp on Hove Lawns throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, with the debut of the Sussex Drinks Tent. From noon until 8pm, KingBeer & The Collective are running a craft beer and lager bar, Butlers Wine Cellar is pouring English wines, and Blackdown is in charge of the Sussex G&Ts.
With several top dining dates, our highlight has to be the marriage of 64 Degrees' talented Michael Bremner with six Sussex winemakers for the Sussex Wine & Food Matching evening on Friday 28 August. A fundraiser for FareShare, the savvy food surplus redistribution charity, each winemaker will introduce their wines in the Festival marquee, while Michael prepares the dishes in front of you. Taste and theatre, all in a good cause. Unmissable.
Thursday sees a cocktail-themed supper club take over Jeremy’s Restaurant at Borde Hill Garden, with the ever inventive Sarah Thompson of Blackdown Spirits in charge of mixology.
It’s not just for the adults. The Children’s Food Festival returns, and dancing takes over on Sunday, with Metrodeco and Sussex Swing offering taster classes in the afternoon.
