Break for the Borders

Scotland’s oldest micro-brewery hosts a new beer and food festival on the first weekend in August.

Traquair Beyond Beer

Beyond Beer at Traquair House brings together breweries from the Border with guest brews from across the land and a host of local food producers.

Traquair’s superlative Jacobite Ale will be there alongside brews from Broughton, Borders, Tempest and newbie, The Freewheelin Brewery Co, while Whitmuir Organis and Cocoa Black Chocolate will be running some of the food stalls.

Beer sommelier, historian and author – and friend of DrinkBritain.com – Jane Peyton will be joining Brentwood Brewing Co's Sophie de Ronde and beer legend Roger Protz in the Events marquee.

For those home brewers among you, there’s a Home Brewing Competition to have your creation judged by a panel of experts and possibly brewed. Don’t delay on this – you need to have your entries in by Wed 30 July

Traquair-cheersThere’s food-related workshops for the kids, and music and entertainment in the garden.

And if you want to make an evening of it, join the Beer Banquet on Saturday. With Jane Peyton, Roger Protz, Brentwood Brewing Company’s Sophie de Ronde and Pete Brown sharing the MC duties, there will be seven courses matched with beers.
