Chase opens doors for festive fun

From field to Martini glass, one of Britain’s newest hotshot distilleries, Chase, is opening its doors to the public for three festive days and teaming up with to offer its readers a special insight.

Chase Christmas tours

There’s one pair of tickets up for grabs and, in a unique offer, DrinkBritain readers are eligible for a third off the £15 ticket price.

We were lucky enough to join one of two tours during Herefordshire Food Week back in August. The chance to wander round this artisanal distillery, to see the towering tube-like bubble-plated still, to hear from the down-to-earth distillers themselves, and then to perch at the chic bar and sample the unusual range, was truly inspirational.

While some jetted over from Ireland for the visit, others like us had motored hundreds of miles. Just the month before, hundreds of mixologists had bussed in for their own Rock the Farm weekend.

Chase BarThere’s an instinctive affinity for flavour among the energetic team. As well as the aromatic Chase Marmalade Vodka, we tasted a fresh apple gin, a breathtaking smoked vodka and an enigmatic elderflower liqueur.

Although the sense of creative anarchy is refreshing, it’s not just contrived Willie Wonka craziness. The apples for the gin come from a century-old orchard right outside, and the water is from the farm’s own aquifer. They even namecheck the potatoes destined for the vodka – King Edwards, natch! – no wonder you can often spot the odd mini Union Jack on the bottles.
