Plumpton College received a welcome boost from an unlikely quarter last week – Bordeaux! Martin Krajewski, owner of Château de Sours, producer of one of Bordeaux’ most highly regarded rosés, has struck up a five-year sponsorship deal with Plumpton, the UK’s sole viticultural college and part of the University of Brighton.
With his daughter Charlotte recently graduating from Plumpton with a BSc in Viticulture & Oenology, Martin has seen at first-hand the college’s capabilities. Regarding the research currently being undertaken as “groundbreaking in terms of the UK wine industry”, Martin said he was “extremely proud that we now have a winemaking institution in England to rival many perhaps better-known international facilities,” before adding that he was “looking forward to being part of creating future British winemaking legends”.
