Welsh distiller scoops Producer of the Week slot
DrinkBritain.com’s new Producer of the Week is Penderyn Distillery in the Fforest Fawr National Park, South Wales. Officially opened in 2004, its visitor centre opened in June 2008, complete with viewing windows offering a bird's eye view of the process. The last year has seen 25,000 visitors through its doors, up a third on the previous year.
Evening and corporate tours have recently been added to its regular daily tours, and its Saturday masterclasses are normally a sell-out.
Alive to a significant moment, those wanting a whisky memento of the 2010 Ryder Cup will need to act fast, with 25 of the 200 bottles remaining. Commissioned by the Celtic Manor Resort, the single malt was matured in an oloroso sherry cask, bottled at 50%, and comes in a handmade tulip-wood box made in local master craftsman Giancarlo Bianchi.
