Cocktails at Imbibe 2010Gin is leading the charge for British drinks at Imbibe 2010, the new show from the guys behind Square Meal and Imbibe on 13-14 July at Earls Court.

Targeted solely at those in the bar and restaurant industry and covering all drinks types, with 13,500 visitors already registered, it’s likely to be a busy couple of days.

With Sipsmith, Sacred, No 3 London Dry, Greenall’s and Whitley Neill flying the flag, there’s every chance to see what it is about these gins that is catching people’s eye – and palates. But don’t stop there. Head along to the Shake It stage at 4pm on either day to hear mixologists extraordinaire Jared Brown and Anistatia Miller explain how to grow and make your own ingredients, followed by a show-and-tell tasting with contributions from 10 bartenders.

And it's not just white spirits. Whiskys on show include Glenfarclas, Auchentoshan, Chivas and Johnnie Walker. So how can you make the most of these drams? Whisky guru Dave Broom will be hitting the stage Tuesday afternoon with one tasty option: an after dinner workshop matching chocolate with spirits and fortifieds.

As well as numerous cocktail competitions, Champagne tastings, a wine bar and taste zone, the Liquid Profits stage offers a succession of half-hour sessions tackling all elements of making the most of your drinks offer.

Geronimo Inns’ Ed Turner will join up with social media specialist Matthew D’Arcy of Event Channeller to cover the power of promotions and modern communications.

And if you fancy something a little different, try King’s Ginger, the ginger liqueur that’s just picked up the top liqueurs and speciality spot in this year’s Quality Drinks Awards. Developed in 1903 to perk up King Edward VII during his morning journeys in his ‘new horseless carriage’ – his Daimler – it’s proving popular in cocktails too.
