Glasgow Beer Week 2011

27 May 2011 - 5:00pm - 3 June 2011 - 11:00pm

Glasgow Beer WeekThe first ever UK Beer Week kicks off today, 27 May, in Glasgow. Across the city brewers, restaurateurs and beer lovers will be enjoying the diversity of Scottish beers at a range of innovative events.

Glasgow Beer Week is being launched at WEST brewery, which is also involved in Sisters are Doing it for Themselves, a beer tasting event for women billed as the antidote to European Cup Final fever.

Beer bread, beer chocolates, and beery sausages are some of the one-off specialities available during the week, and a range of restaurants across the city have introduced beer themed menus. French onion and pale ale soup, anyone?

The Scottish Brewing Archive are opening their doors to the public for the week, and there's a home brewing session where experienced local home brewers will introduce you the the art of brewing from scratch.

If you're an internet animal then you can see which beers are being sampled, and where, with Untappd, an innovative social media app, which allows you to tell the world what you are drinking.
