Vineyard investments

Ancre Hill patioIt’s wonderful the number of Rent-a-Vine schemes cropping up around the country.

One of the ones I was most impressed with recently is Ancre Hill’s in Wales – but maybe that’s because I’m a greedy guts! You see, I like the way they structure your visit: try a few wines, have a Welsh Ploughmans, try the rest of the range, before heading out to have your pic taken alongside your vine.

Pebblebed Partner PlaqueAt the other end of the scale sits Pebblebed’s Vineyard Partner scheme. For the princely sum of £2000, you become an active participant for a decade in Geoff Bowen’s community-biased vineyard located on the outskirts of the historic Devon town of Topsham, near Exeter.

2011 saw a good number of new partners, and 2012 promises futher investment. And you don’t just get to help at harvest and have your name engraved on the majestic wooden plaque.

Geoff Bowen, PebblebedYou receive six bottles of sparkling rosé with your bespoke label for each of the ten years, plus one free tour, tasting and lunch for four each year in the delightful Wine Cellar in Topsham a stone's throw from the bay.
