Polgoon Raspberry Aval

Produced just like Champagne, with a second fermentation in the bottle, this off-dry gentle sparkling cider has been made more celebratory with a hint of pink from a splash of raspberries.

Polgoon Raspberry AvalWinner of a Great Taste of the West Gold medal, it is created from dessert apples – Aval is the Cornish for apple. As a result, it's a touch softer than traditional ciders with a fun sparkle that makes it ideal for light desserts.

Guardian drinks columnist Fiona Beckett appreciated it with Manchester tart – custard tart with coconut and jam – when dining at Marcus Wareing's posh new restaurant, The Gilbert Scott at St Pancras.

£12.40/70cl; from Polgoon's online shop, many Cornish retailers & restaurants/bars, Bristol Fine Wine, Fortnum & Mason, & ohers. See producer's handy outlet page.
