Curious Brew Lager

One week after winning Wine of the Year for its Bacchus Reserve 2010, Chapel Down Winery has won another major award – for beer this time!
Curious Brew

Curious Brew Lager has picked up Gold in the International Beer Challenge, one of only 30 brews to do so.

This amber-coloured brew balances zappy, fresh hop notes with malty digestive flavours and a good clean finish.

After a traditional initial fermentation, with East Anglian malt, Saaz and Cascade hops, the young brew is refermented with the Champagne yeast, before adding a dose of Sauvin hops, cold filtering and bottling unpasteurised.

"We've changed people's minds about English wine," said Frazer Thompson, Chapel Down's CEO, "and now we want to do the same when it comes to lager." A bold statement perhaps, but then as a former Heineken global brand manager, Frazer knows a thing or two about beer.

Available at a range of bars, pubs and restaurants, and by the case from Chapel Down, £29.99, 24x33cl
