Hotel Chocolat Cocoa Beer
Well there we were, innocently wandering through Soho, with a bit of time to spare while the boys were perusing the shelves of a local wine shop. There was Hotel Chocolat on the corner of the crossroads. It would have been rude not to venture in… So we did.
Having enjoyed the free sample of chocolate with salted caramel, I couldn't help but notice the Cocoa Beer. Yes, my eyes were not deceiving me. Turns out Bury's microbrewery, The Beer Shed, has created Hotel Chocolat their own porter, with cocoa shells infused into the brew.
These shells are left over from the chocolate making process, and the result is a well-balanced beer with a clear cocoa powder nose, and chocolate and coffee flavours on the palate. Not sure if it stands up to chocolate, but it's very enjoyable in its own right.
