Langtons No 1 Gin
A soft, smooth gin, with a bright palate which is well worth trying straight.
Langtons No.1 hails from Skiddaw in Cumbria, where two local lads, intent on creating a gin that reflected their roots, discovered a million year old aquifer, or underground water source.
It is this slightly sweet water, along with the use of local oak bark as one of the botanicals, which gives Langtons No.1 its soft smooth character.
The nose is lemon-floral, with gentle juniper and very subtle coriander. This mellow character continues onto the palate, which is really very smooth indeed, and dominated by lemon peel.
This is a very well rounded gin, which makes a great martini. But you really ought to try sipping it over ice – it's that smooth.
