Chase Vodka beat off 100s of other contenders to scoop the World's Best Vodka title at the prestigious San Francisco Spirits Competition in 2010. But then, this Herefordshire spirit has been a bit of a head-turner from the start.
Originally its sole ingredient – potatoes – were simply sold as that to the supermarkets. Then the farm developed Tyrrells, surely one of the tastiest crisp brands on the market, before hitting upon the notion of going one step further: distillation. With a slightly floral nose,
Chase Vodka is gentle and rounded, with a relatively rich texture. Although it will add class to whatever partner you take a fancy for – I opted for a classic V & T, but it'll be Fever-Tree's lemon tonic next – its quality makes it good on the solo side too.
