With shire horses, the UK's only remaining Master Brewery Cooper and a signwriters studio, there's plenty to enjoy at Wadworth's brewery in the market town of Devizes.
Tours begin in the modern, airy Visitor Centre with its interesting historical displays. Then it's on with your high visibility yellow jacket to venture into the impressive Victorian red-brick brewhouse, where some of the old kit sits alongside the new vessels brought in as part of a recent £2.6m modernisation. See the sign writers at work, drop by the stables and watch cooper Alastair Simms in his workshop before returning to the bar for generous samples of five regular and one seasonal ale. Designated drivers are given a bottle to take home.
