There's no mistaking the Famous Grouse Experience – a ten foot high copper statue of the iconic bird greets visitors arriving at Glenturret distillery. Grouse is Scotland's favourite whisky, and the Famous Grouse Experience, sited within easy reach of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, its most visited distilllery.
It also claims to be the oldest, although Bowmore and Glen Garioch would dispute that. Whatever the true date, Glenturret has certainly been producing a gentle Highland malt for going on two centuries.
The tour includes the Famous Grouse interactive zone, a BAFTA award winning show, and the working distillery itself. It ends with a choice of drams, and if that has whetted your appetite, the bar has a menu of some sixty whiskies to choose from.
