Set in the heart of the Wye Valley, in an area of outstanding beauty, Richard and Joy Morris's vineyard is a young one. With first plantings in spring 2006 of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and red grape Triomphe, their first wine to be released created a stir with its awards – see below. Made at nearby Three Choirs Vineyard, the Welsh White has been joined by a 2009 trio of wines, including a rosé, and now a delightful white and rosé sparkler. Another site has since been planted, solely with Pinot Noir.

A winery is being built in this idyllic spot, where son David will look after winemaking. From 2011 this has followed the biodynamic route, harvesting and pruning in tune with the moon and using special preparations in minute quantities to keep the soil in tip-top conditions. Your tour will give you an insight into this fascinating process.

Within striking distance of Monmouth, visit for a tour or just a taste. Stop by for a bite to eat – try the Welsh Platters of local cheeses paired with Ancre Hill wine – or go the whole hog and hire the Morris's three bedroomed cottage, overlooking the vineyard.

The Adopt-a-Vine club does what it says on the tin, entitling you to a number of benefits, including a tour with lunch provided, and the chance to help at harvest.
