From his farm in Abbey Dore, deep in the Golden Valley of Herefordshire, Dennis Gwatkin began making cider and perry as a hobby in 1992. His first product was a perry that was soon discovered by a CAMRA agent that same year, and subsequently won first prize at a regioanl prize at a regional festival. Suffice to say that he's been producing more and more cider varieties since then and his current product range stands at a dozen traditionally produced ciders and perries.

Gwatkin are a very small operation so unfortunately they don't offer tours at the moment, but they do have a designated tasting area in their shop, where they welcome the curious. As the name suggests, the local village Abbey Dore has a beautiful abbey to explore and several pubs that sell Gwatkin ciders on tap.
