Not long now until Brighton & Hove kick off their Autumnal celebrations of all that's fun in food and drink. And you can join in. Whether it's fab ales, tasty ciders, new age gin or serious sparklers, the Festival helps you get to taste some of the region's finest produce.

Beer & Barrels at Belushi's

Newquay’s Belushi’s Bar is holding its first ever ale and cider festival over the Easter weekend, writes Greg Richards. The Beer and Barrels festival has the strapline West Vs the Rest as it’ll be featuring a great selection of locally brewed real ale and cider as well as some more unusual northern beers.

The event is being sponsored by Cornwall’s own Skinner’s Brewery. They’ll be showcasing some of their lesser seen beers at the event, along with their new River Cottage EPA which has been developed with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

Dea Latis: Beer & Chocolate Tasting

What’s better than chocolate? How about beer and chocolate? Yes, it’s that time of year when not one but two of life's luxuries – nay, necessities – come together in one package.

Dea Latis is the inspiring pan-industry group of women who love beer, and want to share their enthusiasm, particularly with anyone new to the (not always) amber nectar. It is holding its annual beer and chocolate tasting on 25 March in London, and all women are welcome.

Oldershaw Brewery Open Day

Lincolnshire's Oldershaw Brewery is opening its doors to all comers on the 14th December, writes TravAle's Greg Richards

Oldershaw’s Kathy and Tim Britton are marking the end of a busy 12 months which has seen the brewery win an award for its Great Expectations ale at the Society of Independent Brewers national competition, produce a beer for the plush St Pancras Renaissance Hotel – and both become certified beer sommeliers.

World's Biggest Liar contest

21 November 2013 - 7:00pm

It’s the truth – honest guv. Thursday 21 November sees the return of Jennings' famous World’s Biggest Liar contest, at the Bridge Inn, Santon Bridge.

Politicians and legal eagles are banned, but all others are welcome to pit their wits against some creative storytellers. So who can top Jack Harvey’s winning line from 2012 – that Cumbrians are 4% badger? To mark the occasion, Jennings have brewed their World’s Biggest Liar beer.

7pm, £8, includes Tattie Pot Supper, Tickets available from Jennings Brewery Shop.
